A flag quiz for every level
FlagQuiz.co is a free flag quiz covering all 195 countries in the world: the 193 members of the United Nations plus Vatican City and Palestine. You can play the whole world at once, focus on one continent, or add around 50 territories and partially recognised states when you're ready for more.
New to flags? Start on Easy, where you choose from four answers, and pick a small region like South America or Oceania. Once you're getting most of them right, switch to Hard and type the answers yourself. Expert mode removes the suggestions too. You can also flip the quiz around with Find the flag, where we show a country's name and you pick its flag.
Learn from every mistake
When you get a flag wrong we show you the right answer and the capital straight away. At the end of each quiz you'll see every flag you missed, and they're saved to your practice deck so you can drill them later. Each flag links to a page explaining its design and history.
The hardest flags to tell apart
Some flags are almost identical. Chad and Romania differ only in the shade of blue. Indonesia and Monaco are both red over white. Ireland and Ivory Coast are mirror images. Our guide to similar flags explains how to tell each pair apart, and the hard flag quiz tests you on nothing else.
Play every day
The Daily Flag is a new puzzle each day: the flag starts hidden and every wrong guess reveals another piece. Solve it to build your streak, then share your result without spoiling the answer.
Frequently asked questions
How many flags are in the flag quiz?
The world quiz has 195 flags: the 193 UN member states plus Vatican City and Palestine. Turn on territories to add around 50 more, such as Greenland, Hong Kong and Puerto Rico, plus states with limited recognition like Kosovo and Taiwan.
Is FlagQuiz.co free?
Yes. Every quiz, the Daily Flag and the flag library are free, and you don't need an account. Your progress is saved in your browser.
What's the difference between Easy, Hard and Expert?
Easy gives you four answers to choose from. Hard asks you to type the country's name, with suggestions as you type. Expert is typing with no suggestions at all.
Can teachers use FlagQuiz.co in class?
Yes. Students can play without signing up, and the teachers page lets you build a link to a quiz with the region, difficulty and length already set.
How do I get better at recognising flags?
Learn one continent at a time, use the flag pages to see what each design means, and replay the flags you miss. Your missed flags are saved to a practice deck automatically.
