About the South America flag quiz
South America has only twelve countries, which makes it the perfect quiz to start with. Most flags are distinctive, from Brazil's starry globe to Paraguay's two-sided seal.
The trap is the Gran Colombia trio. Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela all use yellow, blue and red, so watch the stripe widths, the coat of arms and Venezuela's arc of stars. Argentina and Uruguay share the golden Sun of May.
Quick tips
- Colombia's yellow stripe is twice as tall as the blue and red.
- Argentina and Uruguay both show the Sun of May.
- Turn on territories to add the Falkland Islands and French Guiana.

How to play
- Choose your difficulty. Easy gives you four answers, Hard asks you to type the country (with suggestions) and Expert takes the suggestions away.
- Pick how many questions you want: a quick round of 10, or all 12 flags. Turn on the timer if you want to race the clock.
- Answer each flag. Get it wrong and we'll show you the right answer and its capital, so you learn as you play.
- At the end, review the flags you missed and practise them until they stick.
Want a different challenge? Switch the mode to Find the flag: we show you a country's name and you pick its flag from four options.
