The complete flags of the world quiz
This is the big one: every one of the world's 195 countries in a single quiz. It includes the 193 member states of the United Nations, plus Vatican City and Palestine, the two UN observer states. Turn on territories to add flags like Greenland, Hong Kong, Puerto Rico and Kosovo.
Naming all 195 flags is a real achievement, so don't worry if you don't get there first time. Start with a round of 25 on Easy, review the flags you miss, and build up from there. When you're ready, try typing every answer on Hard, then go for a perfect score on Expert with the timer on.
Learn the world one continent at a time
If the full set feels like a lot, split it up. South America (12 flags) and Oceania (14) are quick wins. Europe and Africa are the biggest challenges, with dozens of similar tricolours. Try the Europe, Africa, Asia, North America, South America and Oceania quizzes, then come back here.
How to play
- Choose your difficulty. Easy gives you four answers, Hard asks you to type the country (with suggestions) and Expert takes the suggestions away.
- Pick how many questions you want: a quick round of 10, or all 195 flags. Turn on the timer if you want to race the clock.
- Answer each flag. Get it wrong and we'll show you the right answer and its capital, so you learn as you play.
- At the end, review the flags you missed and practise them until they stick.
Want a different challenge? Switch the mode to Find the flag: we show you a country's name and you pick its flag from four options.
Flags people mix up in this quiz
Chad and Romania are near-identical blue, yellow and red vertical tricolours; Chad's blue is a darker indigo. Andorra and Moldova use the same colours but add a coat of arms in the centre.
Indonesia and Monaco are both red over white. Only the shape differs: Indonesia's flag is 2:3, Monaco's is 4:5. Poland reverses the order, with white on top.
Both show the Union Jack and the Southern Cross on dark blue. Australia's stars are white, with a large seven-pointed star under the Union Jack. New Zealand has four red stars with white borders.
Ireland is green, white, orange from the flagpole side. Ivory Coast is the mirror image: orange, white, green. Italy swaps the orange for red.
The Netherlands and Luxembourg are red, white and blue stripes; Luxembourg's bottom stripe is a lighter sky blue. Croatia adds a red-and-white chequered shield, and Paraguay adds a round seal.
