About the Africa flag quiz
Africa has more countries than any other continent, and its flags share a lot of colours. Many use the Pan-African green, yellow and red, inspired by Ethiopia, the continent's oldest independent state. Others in the north use the Pan-Arab red, white, black and green.
That shared palette is what makes this quiz hard. Mali, Senegal, Guinea and Cameroon use the same three colours in different orders, and stars, shields and stripes are the only clues.
Quick tips
- Mali is plain; Senegal adds a green star; Guinea reverses the order.
- Niger's orange disc and nearly square shape set it apart from India.
- South Africa's six-colour Y design is one of the easiest to remember.

How to play
- Choose your difficulty. Easy gives you four answers, Hard asks you to type the country (with suggestions) and Expert takes the suggestions away.
- Pick how many questions you want: a quick round of 10, or all 54 flags. Turn on the timer if you want to race the clock.
- Answer each flag. Get it wrong and we'll show you the right answer and its capital, so you learn as you play.
- At the end, review the flags you missed and practise them until they stick.
Want a different challenge? Switch the mode to Find the flag: we show you a country's name and you pick its flag from four options.
