Flag of Saint Martin
The French tricolour, with vertical bands of blue, white and red. It is the official flag of the Collectivity of Saint Martin, which has never had an official flag of its own.
What the flag means
Blue and red are the colours of Paris. The white was added to the militia cockade, and Lafayette described it as the ancient French colour.
History
An unofficial flag with the collectivity's logo is used locally: the name Saint-Martin, with a ribbon showing a blue S and a green M. On 11 August 2026 the collectivity opened a design competition for a flag of its own, with the winner due to be chosen at the end of 2026. The Dutch side of the island, Sint Maarten, has its own flag.
